CCCM & Capacity Building

As a result of the reforms launched by the international humanitarian community in 2005, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) was designated the role of Cluster Lead for Global Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) during natural disasters. This role gave IOM a key position with which the organization could ensure greater predictability, accountability and partnership in humanitarian response. The CCCM Cluster aims to support governments in improving the living conditions of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) who reside in temporary settlements. The CCCM Cluster, therefore, works to provide adequate assistance and protection to IDPs while durable solutions are drawn up.

In line with its humanitarian responsibilities, IOM developed a global CCCM Capacity Building Program to strengthen the knowledge and skills of relevant actors committed to effective and standards-based management of displaced populations. Since 2005, IOM has also delivered various CCCM trainings worldwide.
